Italy Travel Tips:

  • When traveling to Italy, we suggest flying in and out of Rome or Milan. Tenuta di Monaciano is about a 3-hour drive north of Rome and a 4-hour drive south of Milan.

  • Flights are usually cheapest 3-5 months before travel; however, start tracking early using sites such as Google Flights or Skyscanner.

  • Italy is VERY drivable, and rental cars are affordable. We highly recommend renting a car to take advantage of exploring the beautiful Italian countryside, Siena, and Florence. Italy drives on the same side of the road and car as the United States.

  • All major rental car companies are available in the major cities.

  • Museum and restaurant reservations should be made well in advance. Museums will be sold out 3-4 months in advance. A list of our favorite things to do can be found on the ‘While You’re There’ page.

  • Siena and the entire region will be busy. Every year on July 2nd, Siena hosts the Palio di Siena.
