Italy Travel Tips:
When traveling to Italy, we suggest flying in and out of Rome or Milan. Tenuta di Monaciano is about a 3-hour drive north of Rome and a 4-hour drive south of Milan.
Flights are usually cheapest 3-5 months before travel; however, start tracking early using sites such as Google Flights or Skyscanner.
Italy is VERY drivable, and rental cars are affordable. We highly recommend renting a car to take advantage of exploring the beautiful Italian countryside, Siena, and Florence. Italy drives on the same side of the road and car as the United States.
All major rental car companies are available in the major cities.
Museum and restaurant reservations should be made well in advance. Museums will be sold out 3-4 months in advance. A list of our favorite things to do can be found on the ‘While You’re There’ page.
Siena and the entire region will be busy. Every year on July 2nd, Siena hosts the Palio di Siena.
